TransferWise (Wise) uses the mid-market exchange rate for currency conversion, which means that there is no markup added to the rate. The fees are instead based on the percentage of the transaction amount, and these are disclosed transparently before the transfer is made. From my perspective, this is one of the most competitive features of Wise, as many other platforms apply a spread on top of the exchange rate, making the total cost of a transfer higher.
