Kuantan Investment Scam Raids Expose RM215,000 Operation
Abstract:A suspected international investment fraud operation in Kuantan has been disrupted following the arrest of 12 foreign nationals, exposing another alleged criminal network that used digital investment platforms and promises of attractive returns to approach unsuspecting investors.

Police initially tracked a Chinese national to a resort in Kuantan. Information obtained following the arrest subsequently led investigators to conduct five additional raids, resulting in the detention of 11 more individuals.
Those arrested during the subsequent operations comprised nine Chinese men, one Indian man and one Myanmar woman.
Investigators believe the syndicate operated by impersonating customer service representatives and approaching potential investors through online investment applications.
Police examinations of communication records on Telegram and Meta Business uncovered conversations involving suspected syndicate members and potential victims discussing investment offers.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate had been operating from Malaysia for approximately two months, using local internet connections while allegedly targeting individuals in China and Europe.
Authorities confiscated 14 mobile phones, seven computers, one laptop, two WiFi routers and a vehicle during the raids.
The combined estimated value of the seized assets was RM215,000, although police have not established the total financial losses potentially suffered by victims.
Investors should remain cautious of platforms advertising unusually attractive returns, particularly when investment representatives communicate primarily through messaging applications or cannot provide verifiable regulatory credentials.
