隨後，FTX 前 CEO SBF 在社交媒體發文表示，今天我在美國根據《破產法》第 11 章自願申請了 FTX、FTX US 和 Alameda 的破產訴訟程式，希望事情可以找到恢復的方法。計畫撰寫一篇關於 FTX 的文章，並致力於明確事情的現狀，也將致力於用戶賠償方面的清晰度。我相信 FTX 新任首席執行官 John J. Ray III 和其他人可以為使用者提供最好的服務。破產並不一定意味著公司的終結，也不一定意味著為客戶提供價值和資金的能力的終結。
根據 Alameda Research 提交給法院的文件，可以獲悉更為準確的數字（實際也只是個區間）。其中，Alameda Research 在債權人數量的選項中填報的是“預計超過 10 萬人”，而在資產及負債規模選項中 Alameda Research 填報的則均為“100 億美元 - 500美元”。
