From my experience as a trader, the process of making an initial withdrawal with any broker, especially one like TD, should always start with careful due diligence. I noticed that TD is currently listed as unregulated, and that immediately makes me more cautious, as this status can have direct implications for both the safety of my funds and the transparency of their onboarding and withdrawal processes. In typical circumstances, most brokers—whether unregulated or fully regulated—require clients to provide standard documents for initial withdrawals. Based on industry practice, I would expect to be asked for primary identification, such as a government-issued photo ID (passport or driver’s license), and secondary proof of address, for example, a recent utility bill or bank statement that matches my registered address. The purpose of supplying these documents is generally for anti-money laundering (AML) verification and to confirm that the account funds are being withdrawn to the rightful owner. It's also common that, if I deposited using a credit card, I may be asked to submit a copy of the card with certain digits covered for security. Given TD’s lack of regulation and unclear fee structure, I would be especially meticulous in confirming requirements directly with their customer support before initiating any withdrawals to reduce the risk of unexpected delays or complications. I personally avoid proceeding until I've received clear, written guidelines and have verified all points of contact. For me, documentation isn’t just a formality—it’s a layer of protection in case of disputes, and with an unregulated broker, extra caution is warranted.
