From my experience trading with MasterLink Securities, I can say that their spreads are variable across all account types. For the Standard, Gold, and Platinum accounts, spreads are advertised as starting from 1.5, 1.0, and 0.5 pips respectively, with no commissions. This variable structure means that, under normal market conditions, the actual spread you see can be close to these minimums, but it is not guaranteed to stay fixed. When it comes to major news events or periods of heightened market volatility, I have observed—and this is typical for most brokers offering variable spreads—that the spreads can widen significantly. This is primarily due to increased uncertainty and rapid price movements, which make it more difficult for liquidity providers to guarantee tight pricing. For me, careful planning is required around such announcements; even though MasterLink Securities' base spreads are competitive, I know to anticipate wider spreads during key data releases or unexpected events. In short, while the starting spreads are attractive and generally reasonable for day-to-day trading, I always prepare for the possibility of them expanding during volatile sessions. This is a normal operational risk with variable spread brokers, and it underscores the importance of appropriate risk management whenever trading around news events.
