According to the information available, Daman Securities advertises spreads “from 1.2 pips” with the DM classic account and “from 0 pips” in the DM pro account. In forex industry terms, when a broker quotes spreads as “from,” it generally signals that the spreads are variable rather than fixed, as fixed spreads would usually be specified as a constant rate regardless of market conditions. With variable spreads, I know from personal experience that the actual cost of trading can fluctuate considerably, especially during periods of heightened market volatility such as economic news releases. Brokers without robust regulation—and Daman Securities has explicitly no valid regulatory oversight—may vary spreads as they see fit, sometimes widening them substantially during news events. For me, this exposes traders to higher transaction costs than expected, and it can also mean increased slippage or worse execution if market conditions become chaotic.
