From my research and hands-on review as an independent trader, I’ve found that the typical spread for EUR/USD at NOMURA is around 2.9 pips. This is based on their published spread values for standard accounts. Personally, I consider this spread to be on the higher side compared to many global forex brokers, especially those that target active or cost-sensitive FX traders. The elevated spread can have a noticeable impact if, like me, you trade high volume or use scalping strategies—every pip makes a difference over time. Why does NOMURA’s spread land at this level? I believe it’s connected to their status as a regulated Japanese broker with a strong focus on compliance and risk control, rather than ultra-tight spreads. They’re under oversight from Japan’s FSA, and it shows in their risk management structure and business priorities. For me, this translates into a sense of regulatory reassurance, but also means paying more in bid-ask costs. I always advise considering your trading frequency and style before committing to a broker with wider spreads, as these costs can add up quickly. As always, it’s wise to weigh that extra layer of Japanese financial protection against the potentially higher trading costs.
