From my experience, brokers operating with a Straight Through Processing (STP) model—such as Vita Markets indicates—most commonly provide variable spreads. STP brokers typically route orders directly to liquidity providers, and the spread is determined by prevailing market conditions rather than being set at a fixed rate. In general, variable spreads can offer tighter pricing during periods of normal market liquidity. However, as an experienced trader, I know that during major news events or spikes in volatility, variable spreads often widen considerably. This is a fundamental risk characteristic of STP models: when liquidity drops or uncertainty rises, the cost of execution can become much higher, sometimes unpredictably so. Fixed spreads, by contrast, hold steady but are not the norm with most STP brokers.
