As an experienced trader, when I evaluate a broker like RHB, I pay particular attention to their fee structure since costs can erode returns over time. My review of RHB’s offering reveals a fairly intricate fee setup, largely due to the different financing services and products they provide, especially in futures. For share margin financing, there isn't a facility fee, and they indicate that there are no rollover fees, which can be advantageous for some trading approaches. However, for foreign shares financing, I noticed an upfront fee of at least 0.50% of the facility limit, and an interest rate structure starting from the standard base rate plus 2.3%, coming to a minimum of 4.55% per annum. Discretionary financing appears to be customized both in terms of facility fee and interest, which means clients need to negotiate terms based on their portfolio or strategies. Notably, I couldn't find detailed information on the typical commissions for futures trades or explicit spreads, which is a point of caution for me. Transparent pricing is key, especially if I’m considering trading frequently. Also, the lack of regulatory oversight—due to the revoked SFC license—raises questions about how predictable or competitive fees really are and if these terms might change unexpectedly. In my experience, when detailed fee disclosures aren’t available or when regulation is compromised, I approach such brokers with extra caution, always mindful of the potential for unexpected costs.
