Yes, Interactive Brokers (IB) does charge commissions, but they are among the lowest in the industry. IB uses a tiered commission structure that adjusts based on my trading volume. For example, if I trade fewer than 300,000 shares a month, I pay $0.0035 per share, but the rate drops to $0.0005 per share for trades above 20 million shares. This is especially beneficial for high-volume traders like me. While the commission structure is more favorable for active traders, the complexity of the tiered system could be challenging for beginners who are unfamiliar with how it works.
